2019年11月三笔真题是介绍浙江的省会城市杭州，小时候就曾学过苏轼的诗：水光潋滟晴方好，山色空蒙雨亦奇。欲把西湖比西子，淡妆浓抹总相宜。西湖真的是绝美无比，希望有一天我也能去杭州旅游，一睹西湖的美景。

以下是真题的内容：

作为中国浙江省省会城市，杭州是中国著名历史文化名城。距今约5300多年的“良渚文化”遗址（位于杭州余杭区）是中华文明发祥地之一。

杭州素以美丽的山水著称于世。中国古代谚语“上有天堂，下有苏杭”表达出古往今来人们对于这座美丽城市的由衷喜爱。

西湖位于杭州西南，以其秀丽的湖光山色和众多名胜古迹而成为闻名中外的旅游胜地。2011年被正式列入《世界遗产名录》。此外，气势浩荡的钱塘江大潮，每年吸引无数游客。

杭州拥有丰富的历史文化遗迹。南起杭州，北到北京的京杭大运河始建于1631年，全长约1797公里，是世界上最长、最古老的人工水道。2014年6月22日，京杭大运河正式入选《世界遗产名录》。

在世界上，杭州也颇有声名。13世纪，意大利著名旅行家马可·波罗（Marco Polo）在游记中赞叹杭州为“世界上最美丽之城”。2011年，杭州曾被美国《纽约时报》评为全球41个旅游城市之一，被联合国评为“国际花园城市”。

杭州还曾在中美建交过程中扮演重要角色。2015年1月，中国提出发展“旅游外交”。杭州作为著名旅游城市，又率先实践“旅游外交”。

The castle is steeped in history and legend.

这座城堡充满着历史和传奇色彩。《柯林斯英汉双解大词典》

steep比较常用的意思是“陡峭的”，除了这个意思, 它还可以表示：

1）too much; unreasonable 过高的；过分的；不合理的

e.g. £2 for a cup of coffee seems a little steep for me. 一杯咖啡2英镑在我看来贵得离谱。（《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》）

2）to leave something such as food or cloth in a liquid for some time 浸；泡

e.g. You could steep and brew coffee there.

你可以在那儿泡咖啡和煮咖啡。

3）to have a lot of a particular quality 充满；饱含（某品质）

e.g. This region is steeped in tradition.

这个地区有着深厚的传统。《牛津词典》

Paragraph 2:

杭州素以美丽的山水著称于世。中国古代谚语“上有天堂，下有苏杭”表达出古往今来人们对于这座美丽城市的由衷喜爱。

Hangzhou has been famous for its beautiful landscape. People’s genuine love for Hangzhou from the ancient times has been well reflected in an ancient Chinese saying “Up above there is the heaven; down below there are Suzhou and Hangzhou”.

1. “素” 作为副词表示“一向；一直”， 所以“杭州素以美丽的山水著称于世”可以翻译成“Hangzhou has been famous for its beautiful landscape.” 或者直接省略译为：“Hangzhou is famous for its beautiful landscape.”

e.g. The two countries have a long history of border dispute.

这两个国家素来有边境争议。(《VOA Special》）

2.“以...著称于世” be famous for / be well-known/ boast

boast 这个词很好用， 学会使用可以给译文添彩，有以下几个含义：

1）to have something that is impressive and that you can be proud of 有（值得自豪的东西）

The hotel also boasts two swimming pools and a golf course. 那家酒店还有两个游泳池和一个高尔夫球场。（《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》）

e.g. I dont want to boast, but I can actually speak six languages.

不是我吹嘘，我确实能讲六种语言。（《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》）

3. “由衷喜爱” genuine love

4. “上有天堂，下有苏杭” Up above there is the heaven; down below there are Suzhou and Hangzhou.

Paragraph 3:

西湖位于杭州西南，以其秀丽的湖光山色和众多名胜古迹而成为闻名中外的旅游胜地。2011年被正式列入《世界遗产名录》。此外，气势浩荡的钱塘江大潮，每年吸引无数游客。

The West Lake is located in the southwest of Hangzhou, which has become a tourist hotspot known for its picturesque scenery and abundant historical sites at home and abroad. In 2011, the West Lake was listed in the World Heritage List. What’s more, the magnificent bore of Qiantang River in Hangzhou attracts numerous visitors each year.

感觉旅游文本没有太大难度，主要就是要记住这些常用词汇就OK了。

Paragraph 4:

Hangzhou also boasts/is home to abundant historical sites and cultural relics. Founded in 1631, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal starts from Southern Hangzhou and ends at Northern Beijing with a length of 1,797 kilometers, which is the world’s longest and most ancient/oldest artificial waterways. On June 22, 2014, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has been involved in the World Heritage List/ was designated a World Heritage Site.

1.拥有 boast/ is home to (在两个词语在旅游文本中都常常用到）

2.历史文化遗迹 historical sites and cultural relics，注意不是historical cultural sites. 历史与文化在这里应该是并列关系。

4. 全长 with a(n) (overall) length of

5. 人工水道 artificial waterways

6. “入选”，“列为”都可译为 be listed in/ be involved in/ be designated in

Paragraph 5:

1. 前几段说明了杭州在国内受欢迎的程度，这一段转向国外，所以译为outside China, 这样逻辑关系会更加清晰。

2.赞叹 acclaim/ praise...as

He received acclaim as a champion of the oppressed.

他作为被压迫者的捍卫者而受到了赞誉。《柯林斯英汉双解大词典》

Paragraph 6:

杭州还曾在中美建交过程中扮演重要角色。2015年1月，中国提出发展“旅游外交”。杭州作为著名旅游城市，又率先实践“旅游外交”。

Hangzhou has also played an essential role in the establishment of the Sino-US relations/diplomatic relations between China and the United States. In January, 2015, the Chinese government put forward the policy of “tourism diplomacy”. Hangzhou, a famous tourist city, was again the first city to carry out the initiative in China.

3. the initiative 指代上一句的提到过的“旅游外交”。
